FORK UNION, VA -- Two of the state's best runners will square off on September 14th when Kippy Keino and Alex Tatu toe the line at Hardy National Cross Country Course. Last year the two nationally ranked runners put on a show that was similar to a heavyweight boxing match, both made big moves to win early and both held on in the last mile with Keino picking up the victory in a course record.
The meet served as springboard for both Keino and Tatu. Both athletes went on to win State titles in cross-country and both earned invitations in February for the prestigious Milrose Mile. Tatu is coming off a 1:14 Half Marathon and Keino recently returned from a summer of running in Eldoret, Kenya.
Entries are slowly coming in for the fifth edition of the meet. Last year's champions in the girl's division Paul VI will be back to defend their title. The course is beginning to return to normal despite the drought conditions of the summer. Stay tuned to Milestat.com for more details.
