Doswell runs US#2 1000 @ Armory Collegiate Games!

DoswellNEW YORK, NY -- St. Catherine's junior Katie Doswell continued what has been a jaw dropping amazing and out of nowhere surprising indoor season by running the second fastest 1000 meter indoor time in U.S. high school prep history. In a sensational field assembled at the Armory Collegiate Games, held at New York City's Armory track, Doswell paced off of New Jersey's Janine Davis (1:06, 1:42, 2:15.4) with the rest of the field and then blew away Davis and the competition in the final lap to win in a time of 2:47.10. Doswell was coming off a double win at the Virginia Tech Invitational last weekend in the 1000 meter run (2:52.38) and 500 meter dash (1:15.04), which her two victories started to give her some national notoriety. However, after this weekend's performance, everyone in the nation should know Doswell's name. The current national record in the 1000 meter run is held by Arie Lambie, who set the mark of 2:45.46 in 2003. With the added competition and fast Armory track, Doswell was able to drop her state leading time by over a full five seconds in a week's time. This season has been quite amazing for Doswell as at this time last year, she was considered primarly a 3200 meter runner. As the current national leader in the 1000 meter run, Doswell will have to be considered to be in serious national title contention whether she chooses to compete in the 800 meter run or mile at one of the two indoor national championships (NIC and NSIC).
