JMU\'s Dunham Takes First, Three Others Qualify For ECAC At Virginia Tech Classic

BLACKSBURG, Va., Feb. 12, 2005 – James Madison senior Cindy Dunham\'s (Warren, Pa./Warren) 5,000m time of 17 minutes and 49.17 seconds earned her a first place finish at the Virginia Tech Classic in Blacksburg, which concluded on Saturday.

Junior Nelly Anderson (Charlotte, N.C./Cordillera Academy) took second place in the mile run with a time of 4 minutes and 57.76 seconds, qualifying her for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships.

Joining Anderson in ECAC qualification was senior Tiffany Hall (Ann Arbor, Mich./Community/Pioneer), who had a time of 1:14.94 to finish second in the 500m.

Sophomore Adrienne Mayo\'s (Reston, Va./South Lakes) performance in the triple jump earned an ECAC qualification, an honor she has now qualified for in five different meets. Mayo\'s distance of 39 feet, 9.55 inches not only awarded her sixth place in the Virginia Tech Classic, but was her personal best of the season.

Other top ten finishes for the Dukes include sophomore Dena Spickard (Marion, Va./Marion) who finished third in the 5,000m with a time of 18:00.50, freshman Kelly Payne (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee), who finished sixth in the 5,000m with a time of 18:36.71.

In pole vault competition, junior Brittany Yates (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) finished eighth with a height of 11 feet 7 3/4 inches.

Freshmen Kaitlyn Stefanski (Westerly, R.I./Westerly) and Jacqueline Chapman (Centreville, Va./Westfield) finished eighth and ninth in the 1,000m with times of 3:16.88 and 3:17.63, respectively. Junior Liz Poremsky (Johnson City, Tenn./University) finished 10th in the 1,000m with a time of 3:24.43.
