The men\'s team was led by senior Donald Singleton (Syracuse, N.Y.), who took third place in the men\'s 400 meters. More importantly, he ran a personal-best time of 47.26 seconds, qualifying him for the NCAA Outdoor Regionals in Randall Island, N.Y., in April
Marques Sneed (Baltimore, Md.) was sixth in the 400, running a time of 47.72, just off the qualifying mark.
Other top efforts from the Spartan men came from Chris Walker (Norfolk, Va.), who was fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 14.36 meters; and from Troy Wilkerson (Norfolk, Va.), who was fifth in the 200 meters in 21.95. Singleton was close behind in the 200, finishing in 41.63.
The 400-meter relay team of Singleton, Sneed, Wilkerson and Michael Wittenburg (Lakewood, N.J.) came in fourth with a time of 41.63.
The women\'s team boasted two first-place finishes. Fabiana Perlingeiro (Praia do Canto, Brazil) won the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:37.58. Imani Moorman (Madison Heights, Va.) took first place in the triple jump with a distance of 11.95 meters. The Spartan women had three third-place finishes, from Cristina Zuniga (Springfield, Va.) in the pole vault and Felicia Yearwood (Freeport, N.Y.) in the shot put with a distance of 12.48 meters. Yearwood was also third in the discus throw with the distance of 35.82 meters.
Both teams will participate at the Christopher Newport Captains Classic this weekend in Newport News, Va., while part of the women\'s squad will also compete in the Maryland Invitational in College Park, Md.
