Lambert's season-best jump of 24-5.0 gave the team 10 points, as did Frykberg's throw of 185-8 in the javelin. The teammates had already qualified for the NCAA Regionals in their respective events earlier in the season.
The team earned a total of 19 points in the javelin as junior Chris Widhalm's (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) season-best toss of 157-8 gave him fourth, while freshman Grant Mathews (Chester, Va./Benedictine) finished in sixth and sophomore Eric Stanchick (Miami, Fla./Miami Southridge) came in eighth.
A large chunk of points also came from the long jump competition. Sophomore Brandon Argro (Richmond, Va./Henrico) earned a personal-best leap of 22-4.25 to give him fifth place, while classmate Tim Jackson(Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) finish in eighth.
Freshman Steve Walters (Virginia Beach, Va./Green Run) finished fourth in the 10000m with a time of 31:00.39, giving the squad five points.
The College of William & Mary currently leads the competition with 93 points, while UNC Wilmington follows in second with 73.5 points. The championships will conclude tomorrow and results will be made available upon completion.
