Also scoring in the long jump for the Rams were junior Yvette Simmons (Newport News, Va./Denbigh), who placed sixth with a mark of 17-8.75, and freshman Christina Ford (Hampton, Va./Bethel), who placed eighth with a leap of 17-4.0.
Jennell Holmes (Yorktown, Va./York) scored three points in the hammer throw after her mark of 137-5, giving her sixth place in the event. The senior also earned one point as a result of her eight-place throw of 95-8 in the javelin.
Sophomore Lauren Stewart (Richmond, Va./Governor's School) earned five points in the pole vault with her fourth-place mark of 10-11.75. Junior Emily Thompson (Crozet, Va./Western Albemarle) turned in her best performance of the season in the 3000m steeplechase. Her seventh-place finish of 11:38.18 gave the team two points.
The College of William & Mary leads the competition with 94 points. The rest of the events will take place tomorrow and results will be made available upon completion of the meet.
