Virginia Intermont College's Corey Duquette won the Championship 10,000-meters at the Penn Relays on Thursday night. Duquette, who took the lead at half way, won with a personal best time of 29:36.08 in the 36-man field. Duquette was challenged late in the race by runner-up Logan Sherman of Texas A&M and American's Pat MacAdie, but surged away over the last 800-meters to win by over five seconds.

Duquette led a trio of Virginia Intermont NAIA national qualifiers in the 10k including Nick Glimsdahl, who posted a 31:05.69, and Steeve Gabart, who improved upon his U.S. Junior National Championship qualifying mark with a 31:21.16.

Ondrej Puskar and Jason Lewis both earned NAIA national qualifying marks in the 5,000-meters with times of 14:51.23 and 15:04.45, respectively.

The VIC relay team of Elkana Chepsiror, Ray Williams, Lewis and Duquette will compete in the Championship of America Distance Medley Relay today against some of the nation's best middle distance teams including defending champions Arkansas, Michigan, Stanford and Villanova.

Teammate Fernando Cabada will compete in Stanford's Cardinal Invitational 5k on Sunday, as well, as the Cobras prepare for the NAIA National Outdoor Championships which will be held in Louisville, KY May 26-28.

The Penn Relays, which will have live and taped portions televised on NBC from 4 to 6pm on NBC, is the U.S.'s oldest and the world's largest track & field meet.
