In the girls race at Friday's TCIS Championships in Chesapeake, Bishop Sullivan junior and Catholic Schools state champ Colleen Schrader led from start to finish and ran a very impressive 18:41 on a muddy and beat up Bells Mill Park course, which hosted the Eastern Region Championships on the previous day.  Her ninth grade teammate, Hannah Frazier, was second in 18:51.  Norfolk Academy though put four seniors on the All-Conference team and won two kick battles at the end to edge Bishop Sullivan 51-54 to win their third straight TCIS title.

In the boys race, a lead pack of Devin Tupper (Norfolk Collegiate), Greg Swanson (Norfolk Christian), and Ian Granger (Norfolk Academy) stayed in tact for the first half of the race.  Right before the two mile mark, Granger opened up a 10 yard lead and opened it to 30 yards on the big down and up hill after the two mile mark. Swanson followed and cut into the lead the last 400, but Granger opened it back up on the last 100 meters and won in 17:14.  For the team title, Swanson's Norfolk Christian team fell just a few points short of defending champs Peninsula Catholic, who had a giant pack of five in the mid-teen places.
