Mattie Webb Journal Entry #8 (11/17/10)
Hi everyone! This past weekend at Great Meadow led to many fast times and great races by runners across Virginia. The weather was perfect for running fast times. I would like to begin my entry by saying that I had a great experience at States and am very thankful for having the opportunity to be there in the first place. I learned a lot from the experience, as I have never gone into a large championship meet being the number one ranked athlete. Getting that experience under my belt will certainly benefit me in the future. I finished with a 17:53, good enough for third overall in the AA race. After seeing my time as I crossed the finish line, I was happy. Being under 18 minutes for the second time in my life was great for me. However, I placed third. Like any other runner contending for a State title, I wanted to win. Sure, that part was disappointing to me. But I never for a moment thought I had a bad race. Anni...
