Will Join Three-Time All-American Ed Moran in Race

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - William and Mary's All-American Christo Landry (Falls Church, VA) has earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 5,000m, the NCAA announced today. Landry will be the second Tribe ace to contest the race as three-time All-American Ed Moran (Dayton, NJ) had already raced his way into the field via automatic qualification thanks to a third-place performance (13:52.79) at Friday's NCAA East Regional.

Landry, who has already earned All-America honors in cross country in his freshman season with the Green and Gold, clocked a 14:05.15 at the Regional the claim ninth. He is seeded into the NCAA Championship 5,000m with a Tribe freshman record time of 14:01.62 that came at the Cardinal Invitational in early May as he aims for a second All-America accolade.

Moran, a graduate student, is seeded into the race with a personal best 13:39.70, also set at the Cardinal Invitational, which is second in the Tribe record books. Moran will set his sights on a fourth All-America honor after a season which has seen him claim the CAA and IC4A 5,000m titles. Moran last competed at NCAAs in 2003 when, racing in the 5,000m, he turned in a 13:54.46 for fifth to claim his third All-America honor overall, and first in track.

It is the third straight season the Tribe has qualified at least one athlete for the NCAA Outdoor 5,000m. In 2004 junior Jeff Hedley (Virginia Beach, VA) raced into the field, while in 2003 Moran and 2003 graduate Sean Graham both qualified, as each earned All-America honors at the Championships, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively. The NCAA Championships will be held June 8-11 at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex in Sacramento, CA.
