CONWAY, AR - Christopher Newport cross country runner Megan Fogarty qualified for the NCAA Nationals finishing in seventh place leading the women\'s team to a fifth place finish while the men placed sixth at the NCAA South/Southeast Regionals Saturday.
Emory was the winner on the women\'s side with 26 points, Trinity finished second with 111 points, Mary Washington was third with 136 points, Washington & Lee placed fourth with 138 points and CNU was fifth with 147 points.
Megan Fogarty was seventh overall with a time of 22:44 and qualified for nationals with that time. Liz Bissell was 12th with a time of 23:09, Ashley Ezell finished 32nd in 42:01, Emily Low was 40th overall with a time of 24:24, Elizabeth Browning was 56th in 25:05, Beth Bartlemes finished 82nd with a time of 25:56 and Amanda Fitzhugh placed 96th in 26:28.
On the men\'s side, Centre finished first with 41 points, Rhodes was second with 63 points, Emory was third with 120 points, Washington & Lee was fourth with 129 points, Sewanee finished fifth with 136 points and the Captains were sixth with 206 points.
Daniel Swale led CNU with a 22nd place finish in 26:12, Tim Scott was 37th in 26:45, David Barham placed 40th with a time of 26:50, David Woodson finished 51st in 27:07, Cory Scott was 56th with a time of 27:17, Jesse Hutcheson finished 73rd in 27:57, and Tom Camp was 74th with a time of 28:00.
Fogarty is the first CNU women\'s qualifier since Aimee Gibbs qualified in 2003. She will compete in the NCAA Nationals next Saturday in Delaware, OH.
