This Week's Nominees:
Scarlett Johnson, Kellam (Virginia): Ran 19:34.49 for 1st place among 93 finishers in the 5K at Beach District XC #2. The mark is No. 20 of 871 athletes overall in MileSplit's database at this course since 2014. It is also No. 6 of 416 sophomore athletes in MileSplit's database at this course since 2014.
Macy Dodson, Grafton High School (Virginia): The 5K at Bay Rivers District Meet #2 went her way in 17:30.00, a winning time that put 43.0 seconds between her and the next finisher across a field of 86. It's the fastest mark in MileSplit's database at Jamestown High School since 2015 among 649 athletes, and fastest among 247 sophomores on this course, trimming 77.0 seconds off her own previous time of 18:47.00 there.
Caroline Taylor, Dominion (Virginia): First among 54 finishers at the Algonkian Cup XC, she clocked 19:29.37 for the 5K and won by 35.2 seconds. The junior cut 53.9 seconds off her previous time at Algonkian Regional Park and now sits at No. 3 of 846 athletes in MileSplit's database at this course since 2010, No. 2 among 243 juniors.
Addison Shoppell, Hanover (Virginia): At the Great American XC Festival, the freshman won the 5K in 19:47.30, crossing first among 155 finishers and holding a 9.5-second margin at the line. The time improved her previous mark at WakeMed Soccer Complex by 15.2 seconds and ranks No. 2786 of 25,415 athletes in MileSplit's database at this course since 2003, No. 596 among 8,941 freshmen.
Audrey Waite, West Springfield (Virginia): The senior took the win at the Gettysburg XC Invitational, running 20:43.70 for the 5K and finishing first of 118 with a 15.9-second cushion. That performance places her No. 427 of 3,514 athletes in MileSplit's database at Gettysburg High School since 2003, and No. 173 among 1,169 seniors on this course.
