1. At the recent Husker Invitational, you set a new indoor personal best mark of 7-02.25 in the high jump. What, if any, changes have you done for your approach this year in the event?

This year to improve, I have moved my steps out by one and sped up on my approach. I have also worked at being more consistent with the approach and working to improve each time.

2. You also placed ninth at the 2002 NCAA Indoor Championships in the high jump. Now that you have that kind of experience under your belt, do you feel less pressure to perform even better at the national meet?

Yes, the experience is good, but I feel no pressure at all. I just wish to place higher this year since this is my last Indoor Championship meet. I hope that I will do good this year at indoor nationals and hopefully place higher to become an All-American.

3. During your freshman year at Texas Tech, you also competed in some of the multi-events. Did those events help or hinder your performance in the high jump?

Some of the events helped my performance in the high jump, however, some of the events hinder my performance. Strength-wise, most of the events helped my performance in the high jump, but I could do just as good without those events.

4. What have been some of the more rewarding experiences so far for you during your collegiate career?

During my freshman year, I set the freshman record at Tech for 7"1 3/4. Placing second at the Big 12 conference meet as a sophomore and going to the indoor national meet the last two years.

5. What has been the best advice anyone has given you to perform above expectations in the high jump?

Our coach always says not to think about it and just go out and compete to the best of your ability.

6. Now that the indoor season is almost over and the outdoor season is just around the corner, what kind of adjustments do you make in your training when in between seasons?

There are no adjustments that I plan on making right now. But when the time comes, I might have to adjust my approach and prepare for the weather.

7. The men's high jump appears to be one of the more wide open events this year. What will it take for you mentally and physically to be the one to claim the title?

To win the event, I need to be mentally and physically ready for the high jump and perform to the best of my ability.

8. Who do you see as the next person to possibly clear 8 feet in the high jump?

As of right now, I do not think anyone is capable of clearing 8 feet from the jumpers that I have seen.

9. What has been the most exciting track & field competition you have ever been involved in?

I do not believe I have been in an exciting competition. There is not one competition that stands out in my mind.

10. Describe the team atmosphere at Texas Tech and the more memorable trips you have all traveled together.

All and all the team atmosphere is positive. One of the most memorable trips that we have been on would probably be 2002 Indoor Nationals. We took more people to the 2002 Indoor National meet than we have in the past and it was really exciting to see that many people compete for Texas Tech at the National meet.
