STAFFORD, VA -- The Blackhawk Invitational hosted at Brooke Point High School had some of the best performances in the state this past weekend. The homestanding Brooke Point girls (118.5 pts) took the title in dramatic fashion over Osbourn Park (117 pts) as only a point and a half point separated the two teams. The Colonial Forge boys (90.5 pts) stopped a a sweep of the host school as held off the Brooke Point boys (80 pts) for the boys\' team title.
No surprise that the Brooke Point girls were led by April Sinkler as 30 points from her in the jumping events could be the norm on a weekly basis from Coach Ocheltree\'s squad. Sinkler took first on Saturday in the high jump with a probable US #1 clearance of 5\'9\" in the high jump as she set a personal best height. The AAA State Meet should be very interesting now with two proven 5\'9\" high jumpers in Sinkler and Deep Creek\'s Ashley Gatling. Osbourn Park relied on their relays for considerable point production as their 4x100 meter relay (49.67) took a close victory over Brooke Point (49.82), while they found a little bit more breathing room in a 4x400 meter relay win in a time of 4:04.45 as Brooke Point finished second in the event at a time of 4:09.67.
