Sophie Chase is racing European XC style in Scotland this weekend

Lake Braddock senior distance runner Sophie Chase has been selected by the USATF among a nationally elite group of high school cross country runners to race this weekend in Scotland at the Buda Great Edinburgh Cross Country International Challenge. Chase may have thought her final high school cross country race was last month in her sixth place All-American finish at the Foot Locker Nationals, but instead she gets one more chance to lace up the spikes to race on the grass, dirt, and mud across the pond on a 4 kilometer European cross country style course. This race is one of the more premier cross country races in the World to attract many of the top profesionally distance runners internationally from all over includes the dominant distance running countries of Kenya and Ethiopia as some of the most recent race winners included the likes of Mo Farah (2011 men's long course winner), Kenenisa Bekele (2006-2009 men's course winner), Asbel Kiprop (2012 men's short course winner) and Tirunesha Dibaba (2010 women's winner). Chase will get the opportunity to race internationally for the first time against top junior women from all over the world.
