While the rest of the state is competing on flat-fast courses, some 30+ teams will be pushing themselves on the Panorama Farms hills. This is widely seen as a great preview of the state course as it relates to terrain and speed.

On the girls' side the biggest team in the state will be here this year with Blacksburg entered in competition. They are led by junior Kaitlynn Wolfe but her teammates are no joke either. Keep on eye on those girls and Emily Smeds of Fluvanna for the top spots in that race.

Over on the guys' side, we have some heavy hitters slated to compete. These include Albemarle, Western Albemarle, Blacksburg, and Oakton. All four of those teams are slated to make the podium at states.

The biggest battle though will be between rivals Albemarle and Western Albemarle with Western trying to flip the script from last year when they got blown out of the water by Albemarle. Oakton and Blacksburg though will also want their fair share of the excitement so don't expect this race to a blowout.

Individually there are four guys entered under 16 minutes. Those four guys are Joe Hawkes, Jack Eliason, Oliver Wilson Cook, and Alistair Bushey. Most likely though this race will come down to the Western duo of Hawkes and Eliason who have made a name for themselves as two of the best in the entire state.
