The Midlothian boys cross country program has produced many great runners over the last 15 years. Let's take a look at how many with a top 100 list of fastest 5K performers since 2000.

This may be hyperbole but I feel that the 2015 installment of the Virginia Tech Invitational could be the biggest and baddest meet this track has ever seen, including the 1996 World Championships run on this very surface.

Though it is weeks away, the Virginia Tech Invitational is going to be a big one! First before we release the performance list is the invitational mile field, one of the deepest fields in the meet.

With states now complete and all the performances in the system it is time to look at where everyone stands inside the top 50 and beyond. Check out inside and compare them to a week ago to see where you and your athletes rank. 

With only mere hours separated us from the penultimate meet, the VHSL State Cross Country Championships, it is time to look and preview each classification. Inside is a breif preview of the classification and the leaderboards for the top 50 individuals in the classification. 

The 2013 All-MileStat.com XC Boys Cross Country Team has been announced with 21 runners total being selected among the first, second, and third teams. Special recognition and honors also given to runner of the year, coach of the year, freshmen of the year, and most improved runner of the year.

​A former football coach who never ran cross country in high school and did not start coaching cross country until later in life around the age of 50, Midlothian head coach Stan Morgan has put together a remarkable run of teams since his first podium boys' team in the 1999 season. Over that span, the Midlothian boys have won 5 state titles and been state runners-up four times. The years that they have not been a podium team have been extremely rare. Add in the 6 past state champion squads for girls along with the great potential and possibilities in the coming years in their new 4A classification facing now similar size schools (Midlothian's enrollment has been in the 1400-1600 students range for much of the last 12-15 years), the 70 something year old Coach Morgan and the Midlothian program could be actually entering their prime years of championship glory. 

A list of the top 50 indoor track & field returnees per event among Group 4A boys. The Midlothian boys are in great position to compete for the 4A state indoor track team title with a well-balanced squad with distance, sprints, jumps, and relays expected to score significant points for them at the state level. The Hahn brothers were #3 and #4 runners for the Midlothian boys in the cross country season, but could be their top distance talent on the track with sophomore Randy having the fastest returning 4A times in the 1000 and 3200, while older brother in junior Collin having the fastest time at 1600 meters from last indoor season.

Pre-season cross country virtual meet previews for the two sectionals in the new Group 4A classification (North & South) based on season best 5K performances from last fall. The top 6 teams and top 10 individuals not on one of the top 6 advancing teams will move onto state competition from the sectional/regional championships.

  De'Nisha Smith of Cosby ran a state leading time of 44.93 in the 300 meter hurdles on Wednesday in a tri meet at Midlothian with her teammate Elisa Hendriksen running a four second PR for runner-up and MileSplit US national elite time of 46.12. It was an impressive return to top form for Smith (43.61 PR last year) was setback by injury in the last half of the indoor season.

Day 1 highlights and updates from Friday's performances by Virginians at the 2013 New Balance Indoor Nationals in New York City.

  In 4A next year, the Jefferson Forest girls will no longer have to deal with the Blacksburg girls standing in their way for a state cross country title, but will have compete with another traditional powerhouse in Midlothian in their new classification. Both Jefferson Forest and Midlothian were third place state meet podium teams last week.

  MileStat.com will be staggering out a pre-season cross country top 25 returning individual runners list for the upcoming 2012 season in groups of 5 athletes over the next few weeks. Take a look at #21 through #25 on the boys' individual side which includes one of the state's top underclassmen, a Group A state champion, and two Group AA runners looking to see fast times on the track translate to fast times on the grass.
