A handful of Virginia teams including Deep Creek, West Springfield, Great Bridge, and Western Branch ventured south to compete at the Easter Challenge at the University of North Carolina\'s year old indoor track facility.

LANDOVER, MD - Many of the top Northern Region teams as well as a few from other parts of Virginia are venturing across the Potomac River to compete in this weekend\'s Montgomery Invitational at the Prince George County\'s Sports and Learning Complex against some strong out of state competition.

West Springfield senior Jeff Day had a strong distance double at the second annual Metro Run & Walk Invitational. At the meet, Day posted two state bests as he won both the 1600 meter and 3200 meter runs in times of 4:25.46 and 9:38.40 respectively to earn himself athlete of the week honors.

Very grueling analyzing and researching was put into selecting this year\'s All-MileStat.com boys cross country team as there were so many qualified athletes and coaches that deserved recognition. Well after lots of second guessing, debating, and contemplating, here is your 2002 All-MileStat.com boys cross country team...

The state of Virginia had its finest showing in recent memory at the Foot Locker South Regional Meet today at McAlpine Greenway Park in Charlotte. The state advanced two individual representatives, one on the boys\' side and one of the girls\' side with two Independent school state champions in Kippy Keino of Fork Union and Cara Kiernan of The Potomac School. Also quite a rarity as well as an amazing accomplishment for the Virginians was winning both boys and girls team titles in the seeded races to add to the great day for Virginia, which included a few more race winners and record breaking performances.

The state\'s top harriers gathered in Great Meadows for one exciting state meet in the midst of chilling rain, temperatures in the 40\'s and muddy and slippery course conditions. While the weather broke a few top individuals and teams, there were many others that rose to the occassion and stepped it up on championship Saturday.

The Monroe Parker Invitational served as an icebreaker for many of the top Northern Region teams and individuals on a hot and humid day in Fairfax at the 2.98 mile Burke Lake Park course. Some top teams and individuals opted not to run such as the Thomas
