While Sean McGorty's win was a re-assertion of himself as the state's top runner at the Oatlands Invitational, Jennifer Flack's win in the girls' race was a grand introduction to the rest of the state of Virginia. The Thomas Edison senior Flack transferred to Virginia over the summer from Kansas. After running 4K's for much of her high school career in Kansas, Flack showed she could go the extra 1K distance at Oatlands.
