Online Entry: We will try doing online entries through MileStat.com for each polar bear meet. Entry deadline for each meet will be the night before at 10 PM (so often on Tuesdays at 10 PM). This will save time at the meets in 1) setting up heats already and 2) already having the names of runners after they finish. You can make race-day substitutions from your online entries (runners can run under someone's name and just notify us the change) and potentially additions (in particular when open lanes available and easily able to add in field events).
Weather: Raining or snowing, meet cancelled. Temperature at mid-day below 40 degrees, meet cancelled. Call the host school if weather looks shaky.
Starting time: 3:15 PM for field events and first running event. Running events take precedent over field events.
Running Events: No prelims. Only finals on time with fast to slow order for sections. All meets will be hand-timed unless host school and/or district schools willing to pay for fully automatic timing services.
Field Events: The high jump, long jump, triple jump, and shot put will be contested at all of the scheduled polar bear meets. 3 attempts per athlete in the long jump, triple jump, and shot put. Open pit for jumps. No finals. Starting height for the high jump will be 4'0" for girls and 5'0" for boys.
Entry Limits: Unlimited entries in non-laned races (500, 1000, 1600, 3200). Max of 6 athletes/per school in laned races (55 hurdles, 55 dash, 300 dash) and field events. Max of 3 relays per school.

Shot Put - Cosby & L.C. Bird
Girls LJ/TJ - Clover Hill & James River
Boys LJ/TJ - Manchester & Monacan
High Jump - TBD
Finish Line - Each school should provide at least one timer for laned races

VHSL rules reminders:
* No jewelry allowed. Uniform rules will be waived for weather, but still use meets as learning opportunity for athletes on uniform rules (multiple logos, relay color conformity, etc.)
* Athletes may compete in unlimited field events, but only a max of 3 running events. If running the 3200 meter run, athletes can only compete in one other event.
* Teams with a busy weekend invitational meet schedule must understand that no athlete on their team may compete in more than 10 meets prior to the district championships, so might have to hold out some of their regular invitational athletes from a polar bear meet or two to stay within 10 meet rule.
* Lets avoid having athletes without a time or mark in an event which you intend on entering them at the district meet. Our district rule is that an athlete must have a time or mark in an event in order to enter them in that event at the district championships. You should have plenty of meet opportunities regardless of weather between polar bears and invitationals to get your athlete to record a time or mark in that event.
