2013 Group AA 3200 meter state runner-up Kurtis Steck (photo by Jon Fleming) dipped under 4:30 and just missed achieving the Group AA state auto standard (4:27.38) with a 4:28.15 victory in the 1600 meter run at the Shoot the Gun & Run Invitational held at New Kent High School for an outdoor sesason opener for 17 schools.
