After last year running in the 21 minute range as the #3 runner for the VIS Division 2 state champion Peninsula Catholic girls cross country squad for the much season, Molly McKenna has started off her senior competing at whole new tier and level in performance with two dominating victories against predominantly local private school competition at the Bill McGough Invite and Denbight Baptist Invite and then rolling to fast times and new personal bests when facing stronger fields featuring top public school competition.

The Osbourn Park cross country team competed at the Bells Mill Park for the first time as they made the trip down to Cheseapeake this weekend to get an opportunity to race on the 6A South Regional course and against many of the teams in that region despite finding themselves in the tougher 6A North Region later this season at Burke Lake Park. Their team raced like they had been there before in sweeping the team titles.
Top individuals in the varsity girls race at the Chesapeake Invitational will be Group 5A #2 ranked Katharine Benfer of Mills Godwin and Group 6A #6 ranked Megan Rebholz. Both have already posted swift times this season as Benfer was a 17:58 runner-up for 3 miles at the Fork Union Invitational two weeks ago, while Rebholz has already won two major invitationals (Chancellor & Pole Green Classic) along with a 18:44 season best 5K for third place at the Great Meadow Invite. Virtual meet preview for this Saturday's Chesapeake Invitational at Bells Mill Park in Chesapeake. With the 6A South and 5A South regional championship meets being held at Bells Mill in November, the meet is drawing more than just the former Eastern Region schools like in past years with a good number of Richmond area and Stafford County area schools making the trip down to Tidewater to preview their new regional championship course.
