Saunders runs a stunner in the hurdles at Peninsula Relays Apr 17, 2006

Menchville junior Nicole Saunders made quite an impression at the Peninsula Relays in posting one of the fastest times ever by a Virginian girl in the 300 meter hurdles with a 41.38 clocking. Only one athlete really comes to mind as having ran faster in the event. The Gar-Field great Sheena Johnson ran under 41 seconds in the event including the 40.94 Group AAA State Meet record. Recording the performance as a junior and in a mid-April invitational speaks loud volumes of the time for the Menchville star Saunders.

As most Maryland students got some much needed rest over Spring Break this week, a number of dedicated teams and athletes still took part in meets on Saturday.
