Meet Information
1st annual Virginia High School Indoor Track & Field
MEET OF CHAMPIONS
Saturday, March 8th, 2014
Boo Williams Sportsplex Hampton, VA
Hosted by MileStat.com & Atlantic Coast Timing
Purpose of Meet: With the new 6 classification system, the competition level at our state championships is now watered down and we will not get the opportunity to see as many of the states best facing off in their final meets of the season. This meet aims to bring the best of Virginia together at seasons end when all athletes and relays are in peak performance to find out who is truly the champions of all champions in the state!
Eligibility Requirements: Must be an eligible and competing track & field athlete at a Virginia high school during the 2013-2014 school year.
Sanctioning Rules: The meet will be sanctioned and have liability insurance through the USATF. Athletes are not required to have USATF membership. This is not a VHSL or NFHS sanctioned/sponsored event. All athletes in individual events will be competing as unattached individuals with their hometowns as designations. All relays will be competing under Track Club name affiliations from their hometowns as designations. No different than post-season rules that have applied and still apply for HS teams & athletes who continue their seasons competing at indoor nationals, outdoor nationals, Foot Locker South, and NXN Southeast annually.
How To Qualify (3 options) for the Virginia Meet of Champions:
1. Win a 2014 indoor state title or finish in the top 3 in your event at your state championship meet (automatic qualifier)
2. Achieve the automatic qualifying standard during a meet in the 2013-2014 indoor season
3. Be among the top 24 submitted entries with verified season best entries at the entry deadlines (Exception: Top 12 for relays, pole vault, and high jump)
Events Offered: All of the same events offered in the Virginia high school championship season including the 55 meter dash, 300 meter dash, 500 meter dash, 1000 meter run, 1600 meter run, 3200 meter run, 4x200 meter relay, 4x400 meter relay, 4x800 meter relay, pole vault, high jump, long jump, triple jump, and shot put.
Online Entry Registration: All entries must be done online via MileStat.com at the meet page below:
http://va.milesplit.com/meets/158976-virginia-meet-of-champions. Entry instructions can be found on the website. Coaches may enter a club team of athletes or individuals and parents on their behalf can also enter themselves as individuals as well.
Entry Deadline: All athletes and relays must enter online on MileStat.com by Tuesday, March 4th at 7 PM. No other form of entry is accepted. ONLINE ONLY!
Entry Fee: An entry fee of $10 per individual event and $40 per relay event. Entry fees go to covering cost of facility rental, awards, timing, and officials. All entries must be paid online by the entry deadline of Tuesday, March 4th at 7 PM in order to confirm and declare entry into meet. Any entries that are not accepted will be refunded fully after final entries have been declared and finalized.
Accepted Entries: A list of accepted entries for the Virginia Meet of Champions will be posted by midnight on Tuesday, March 4th. Accepted entries must notify us of any scratches from any events by Wednesday, March 5th at 6 PM to allow us time to notify the next athlete or relay alternate of their acceptance into the meet.
Stand-By Alternate Entrants: We will list and note the two alternate entrants in the meet as the 25th & 26th highest seeds on the accepted performance list for the individual events (except PV & HJ) and the 13th & 14th highest seeds in the pole vault and high jump. In the event that an athlete or two ahead of them is a last scratch in the week from the meet or on race-day, those alternates would be notified and have the opportunity to be added late to the event to compete. Understand that is by no means a guarantee that will occur and a competition opportunity will open up, but at least providing a window and process of opportunity.
