We are in great debt to the track and field coaching staff and the Administration at Liberty University for giving us the opportunity to compete in a great facility. Please remind athletes to treat the facility with the utmost respect and to clean up their team areas at the conclusion of the meet.
COACHES NOTES
Video Ban: It is strictly against the rules to view a video while in active participation. This will result in immediate disqualification from that event. Only a coach can view a video made in an unrestricted area. After viewing, the coach may discuss with the athlete in an unrestricted area; however, at no time during the competition may an athlete view the video.
Wireless Communication: No wireless communication, except those allowed by the meet administration are allowed. All cell phones should be silenced. Any athletes using headphones, cell phones or other portable electronic devices in the competition area may be disqualified.
Uniforms: No jewelry, hats, headbands, sunglasses or other extraneous attire will be permitted. Consult your rulebook for specifics, especially pertaining to relays.
Relay Cards: Coaches need to fill out relay cards for each of their relays. Relay Cards should include school name and the names of the competing relay athletes in their order.
Vertical Jumps: We will use the three alive method. We will not hold the bar if all the athletes who are still in the jump competition have cleared the current height and only an athlete who has been excused to compete in a running event remains. That athlete will be charged with a pass and he/she can rejoin the competition at the succeeding height.
The Infield: The infield is restricted to competing athletes, officials, meet workers, coaches, and members of the press. Parents and other spectators may watch from the bleacher areas.
Scratches and Participation Limitation: Section 84-6-3 (10). This rule is in effect. Example: Previously an athlete was not considered entered in an event until he/she reported to the clerk/field event official. Now everyone is entered in their entry events at the declaration time. You may now scratch any declared event at the coaches meeting with NO PENALTY. Previously if you scratched from a running event you were scratched from ALL subsequent running events. THAT RULE IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT!
Sample: A distance runner can scratch from the 1600 and still run the 3200 later in the meet if he/she was declared in both events.
Another example: In the past a runner could be entered in the 1600 and 3200. The runner could run in the 4x800 relay and 1600 and then not report to the 3200 and all is okay. NOW the runner is considered entered in the 1600 and 3200 at declaration and if that runner runs the 4x800 relay he/she has exceeded participation limits - the 4x800 is disqualified and the runner may not run the 1600 or 3200.
