State Outdoor Track & Field Meet Information
The Group 1A/2A State Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be conducted at Radford University in Radford, Virginia on Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7, 2014.
Entry Instructions: Entries will be done using Milestat.com online entry service. All entries must be submitted in FAT. Entry deadline is 12:00 Noon, Sunday, June 1, 2014.
Reminder: No teams or individual athletes will be allowed to practice at the University Track before the meet, either at the stadium or the throws area. The stadium and throws areas will be closed to all teams until gates open on Friday, June 6 at 1:00 PM. Teams in violation of this rule will be subject to possible disqualification.
Admissions: Admission is $10.00 per day. No charge for pre-school children accompanied by paying adult. Accepted passes for State events include VHSCA, VHSL, VIAAA, VATA, VSBA, and Principals State Membership Cards.
Coaches Meeting: Coaches will meet Friday, June 6 at 1:00 PM in the bullpen area. Pick up packets as you enter the track complex at the north end of the track. Packets will have meet program, coaches passes, and meet information. Athletes will use bib numbers for their ticket to leave and return to the track.
Facility: The Radford Track is a 400 meter track. Only pyramid spikes or flats may be used.
Rules: NFHS Track and Field Rule Book 2013 as well as the VHSL rules as stated in the VHSL handbook will be observed.
Equipment: Each team must furnish its own throwing implements, batons, and poles. Starting blocks will be furnished. Throwing implements will be inspected at the throwing area west of the stadium .Poles and vaulters will be certified at the pole vault area on the infield. Each athlete must wear a proper track uniform, which shall consist of a jersey( with appropriate bib number provided by the VHSL), trunks, and shoes as identified in the current NFHS rulebook.
Awards: Team trophies will be presented at the conclusion of the meet. Individual medals(1st-8th) will be bagged and available to coaches when results have been posted and may be picked up in the lower lobby of the stadium. Scoring will be 8 places. ( 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 )
Participation Limitations: A contestant may compete in any number of field events but shall be limited to participation in only three running events: except that a contestant who competes in the 3200m run, may compete in only one other running event on the same day as the 3200.
If a contestant is entered in a field event which conflicts in the time schedule with a track event in which they are entered, they will make arrangements with the official in charge of the field event to postpone his trials until after the track event has been run. No track event will be held up to accommodate a contestant.
Note: No coaches, managers, or parents will be allowed on the infield (the track, the enclosure inside, or those areas designated only for officials and contestants actually participating or preparing for an event.)
Eligible To State Meet: Entries may be only those individuals and relays who placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th in their Regional Meet and or those contestants/relays who were properly reported by the conference or regional director as having met the state qualifying standards at the conference or regional meet or who met the state qualifying standard in a meet of 10 or more teams and who have been verified by the regional director.
Confirmation Of Entries: Contestants from a school are confirmed for the meet after entering online unless the coach emails his or her scratches to the State Meet Director by noon, Monday, June 2.
