Blacksburg Relays August 29th, 2015
Start the season with a great 2 mile race instead of a 5K in the heat of August in this exciting and fun format. Each runner will compete on the 2 mile course on a co-ed relay that your kids will be talking about all year.
The course: The Blacksburg XC Course is 100% all grass with rolling hills and is very scenic. The course is spectator friendly and is considered a championship collegiate course. The course is located behind the Blacksburg High School and has plenty of parking and restroom facilities.The course will have obstacles similar to a European cross country course. Nothing hard but something they kids will be excited about.
The course is the host of the 2014, 2015 Conference 32 Championships and the 2014, 2015 3A West Regional Championships.
The Relay: The relay has five people, three boys and two girls. Each leg runs 2 miles.
The first leg is a boy
Second leg is a girl
Third leg is a boy
Fourth leg is a girl
Fifth leg is a boy
Each runners splits will be taken. So you will have a team time and 2 mile times for each of your athletes.
Your first team is Team A, that consist of five members (three boys and two girls).
Your second team is Team B, that also consist of five members (three boys and two girls).
You can have as many teams as you need. So your 10th team would be your J team. YOU CAN HAVE RELAYS THAT CONSIST OF MORE THAN TWO GIRLS BUT CANT HAVE RELAYS THAT HAVE MORE THAN THREE BOYS. So a relay can have four girls and one boy for example this must be your last relay. Any athletes you have that cant be on a relay can run the high school open race (9:00am).
Entry Deadline is Tuesday, August 25th, 2015 at midnight.
Meet Schedule:
8:00am-11:15am: Packet pick-up
8:30am: Middle School 2 mile non-relay race (6th, 7th, 8th)
9:00am: High School 2 mile race for non-relay members
9:30am: Blacksburg Relays Championship Start for all relay teams
11:15am: Open Community 2 mile Race (Coaches Free) $10.00 for everyone else!
11:40am: Awards
TEAM AWARDS (Top Five) and Top Ten Split Times for boys and top ten girls in Championship Relays. In the Open High School race the top three boys and girls will receive an award.
Entry fee:
$30 per relay or $200 max fee per school
$10.00 per individual if less than five runners for open races.
Middle school - $70 max fee or $10.00 per runner** If a coach wants an 8th grader in the middle school 2 mile there is no extra charge if paying high school max fee.
Open: $10.00 but free for coaches

You do not need to declare your top relay teams but make sure to declare the individuals running in the meet.When you get to the meet coaches will be provided relay cards for each of their teams - those will need to be turned in prior to the start of the relay event.
Middle School Registration: Can register online at Milestat.com (see high school registration) or email james@runaboutsports.com with the grade, gender, school and name of your athletes.
Open Registration: Register at Packet Pick-up from 8am to 11:00am. Race starts at 11:15am. $10.00
Registration deadline: Tuesday, August 25th at 11:59pm
Results: Will be posted on the results board by the finish line. Results will be sent to Milestat.com.
Shirts: Terrific, short sleeve shirts will be available for an amazing price of $12.00!
Concessions: Fruit, baked good, drinks, and pizza (Pizza available in afternoon).
Changing/ shower facilities: Our football half time building that is on sight is available for changing and showers. If you would like the use of this facility you must request it with us by email. E-mail: james@runaboutsports.com
Athletic Trainer: We will have an athletic trainer on site for limited assistance.
Water/ Gatorade: Coolers and cups of both will be at the start and finish.
