Northern Region Meet Summary MileSplit Staff Feb 26, 2007

"Can I really be having this good of a meet?" That is what T.C. Williams sophomore Tynita Butts was thinking after having a breakthrough day at the Northern Region Meet improving by a foot in the long jump for a 19'00.75" win and three inches for a 5'6" regional title in the high jump. Butts also ran a PR to finish second in the 55 and placed in the 300 meter dash. (Photo by Brandon Miles)  While all the attention and excitement was focused on Robert E. Lee's Sean Holston in his quest to become the first Northern Region male athlete ever to sweep all the metric sprint events at the indoor regional championship in the 55, 300, and 500 meter dashes, which included a US #7 all-time run in the 500 on Saturday, there was certainly a full meet found at George Mason University for the Northern Region Meet which saw plenty of great team and individual battles.

Centreville and Westfield girls look like they will resume another close scoring encounter from their Concorde District meet, with four time defending champion Lake Braddock along with Patriot District titleist West Potomac and T.C. Williams also appearing able to put pressure near the top at this year's Northern Region Championships to be held this Saturday at the GMU Fieldhouse.Centreville edged Westfield two weeks ago by four points at the Concorde District championships and it looks like a duel between those two schools again, with both the Wildcats and Bulldogs capable of approaching the 70 point mark and all the other schools hard pressed to surpass the 40 point mark.
