17th Annual Blue Demon Invitational
When: Saturday, September 8, 2006
Where: Christiansburg Primary / Elementary School Grounds
Time Schedule: Packet Pick-up: Anytime between 8:00 – 9:30
8:00 – Wide Open Race – 3.1 Mile Race – NO COST!!!
8:30 – 5th, 6th, 7th Grade Race – 1 MILE – NO COST!!!
9:00 – Varsity Girls
9:45 – Varsity Boys
10:30 – J.V. Girls
11:15 – J.V. Boys
AWARDS – Will follow last race ASAP!!! (Picnic Shelter)
Course: Most of the course is very hilly and demanding. 90% of the course is on grass, but there is some asphalt the runners will be running on. Please remind your runners to wear appropriate shoes. The course will be mowed and marked clearly with little yellow flags on both sides of the running area. There will be pained arrows on every turn so no one will get confused. There will also be road monitors to stop traffic if necessary. I will be sending you a copy of the course map with this packet. The course is an official 3.1 miles.

Restrooms: Will be located inside the ChristiansburgPrimary School on top
of the hill. Teams should come dressed and ready to run. There
will be no showers or locker rooms available. The Christiansburg
Elementary School at the bottom of the hill will be locked and is
OFF LIMITS!!! The lounge area at CES will also be OFF
LIMITS!!!
Entries: Up to 7 in each varsity race. Unlimited entries in the JV races. 8th
graders must run in the JV race. 5th, 6th, and 7th graders will not be allowed in JV race. The must run the one miler at 8:45.
Entry Fee: $4.00 for each JV and Varsity runner you enter or $40.00 per
team. (Boys and Girls are separate teams). There will be no cost for 5th, 6th, and 7th graders.

Awards: Varsity – Top 3 Teams will receive a trophy
Each Top 7 runner will receive a medal so that each member of
the team can take a piece of the trophy home with them.

*** Top 7 times of the day (JV and Varsity combined) receive an
"All Meet Team" T-shirt
J.V. – Top 3 Teams receive a trophy
*** Top 10 in each race receive a medal
5th, 6th, and 7th Grade 1 Mile – Top 3 Girls and Boys receive a
medal. Everyone else will receive a ribbon.
Shirts/Concessions: T-shirts will be sold for $12. Lots of food and drinks will be
on sale (Gatorade, Water, Pizza, Hot dogs, Fruit, etc.)
Scoring: Computerized. Copies will be made available after the awards

Official Entry Form for the 5th, 6th, and 7th Grade Race
1 MILE RACE
Saturday, September 8, 2007
Race: The 5th, 6th, 7th Grade race will be held as part of the 16th Annual Blue Demon Invitational. It will be a one mile course over cross country terrain. It is open to anyone in these three grades at NO COST!!! There will be a large crowd of older runners and spectators to cheer you on.
Time: The race will start at 8:30 a.m. There will be other Varisty and JV races following immediately after you race. Stick around and watch the exciting high school races later in the morning. Please make sure you show up at least 30 minutes early to view the one mile course and get warmed up.
Location: Our course is laid out around the property of Christiansburg Elementary and Primary Schools. The starting line will located at the bottom of the big hill beside CPS (Right beside the green top). After the start, the runners will follow a clearly marked path to the finish of the one mile race. There will be a map at the meet check in table at the day of the race.
How to Register: Send your signed waiver form to the address listed below or register the morning of the race. If you register the morning of the race, do so at the check-in table with one of the meet officials. You can sign up anytime between 8:00 – 8:20 a.m.
Awards: Top 10 boys and girls will receive a medal. Everyone else will receive ribbons.

Directions to the Course:
From South I-81:
- Take I-81 North towards Roanoke
- Take Exit 114 (Christiansburg/Route 8)
- When you come off the exit, you will take a LEFT towards Christiansburg.
- Once on Route 8/West Main Street towards Christiansburg, go through one stoplight and at your second stoplight, you will take a LEFT onto DEPOT STREET.
- You will follow Depot Street to the next light and you will continue straight through this light.
- You will then travel about ¼ of a mile and you will see BETTY DRIVE on your LEFT. Take a LEFT onto Betty Drive and there will be parking attendants at the top of the hill.
From North I-81:
- Take I-81 South towards Christiansburg
- Take Exit 114 (Christiansburg, Route 8)
- When you come off the exit, you will take a RIGHT towards Christiansburg.

FOR THE COACHES:
- You do not have to notify anyone if you have changes to your Varsity or J.V. roster for the day. When we type in the competitor's race number, their name will come up, no matter what race they run.
- Double check the list of athletes I have put in your packet. If there are any problems, please find me ASAP!
- Starting boxes are labeled inside your packet. They are set up in alphabetical order.
- After the Varsity and J.V. races, please place your runner's finish position card (index card) inside the correct envelope and drop into the "QUICK SCORE BOX" located at the finish line. This is an extra back-up for us.
- Compliments or concerns? Please let us know!
FOR THE RUNNERS:
- Wear your number on the front of the jersey. Pin the four small holes, NOT the large one at the bottom.
- Be at the starting line 5 MINUTES before your race.
- No jewelry! (You can wear a watch).
