The RVA Relays 2017

Mechanicsville, VA

Meet Information

NEW for 2017!

After a huge turnout and success in our first & second meets we are proud to announce plans for yet another exciting RVA Relays. In 2017 we are adding more banks of lights, more string lights along the course, LIVE RESULTS, and an enhanced coaches' hospitality area!

That isn't it though... We have also moved the "open race" to just before the "A"races at 7:30pm and made it a "Glow Run" where all the coaches, parents, fans, and anyone else can compete.

Glow Run Information

Registration for the "Glow Run" will start at 4:00pm and cash or checks are accepted. The fee is $10 per person for this and the elementary/middle school races. You will receive a bib and chip for this race. Registration will close for this race 30 minutes prior to the start time (6:30pm). You can sign up for this even at the finish line tent. High School coaches can receive a bib for free if their team is competing.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to us to let us know what we can do to ensure you and/or your team's attendance to our great event!

Online Registration: Teams can register online

How do I register for a meet?

1. Login or Register - You must have a user name and password for Milesplit. To get that, if you don't have one, click register in the top right gray MileSplt bar directly under the Universal Sports logo and search box.

2. Claim Your Team - If you haven't already set this up, you must be registered as a coach or team administrator to register for a meet In order to get set up, you go to your team page, and at the top right, click Claim This Team. Choose either that you want to be a coach or team admin. Follow the instructions on that page. Apply and submit. Once you do that and are approved (usually within a few hours), you will receive a confirmation email and you'll be set to go to the next step.

3. Update Your Roster - If your team's roster is not already up to date, now is a good time to get any corrections made and add any additional athletes to it. Go to your team page, login, and you will see button that says "Team Administration" to the right of your team's name. Click that and then click roster on left hand toolbar. Enter or update your roster, adding any new athletes. To move graduated athletes to Alumni, simply add their graduation year and hit save.

4. Enter the Meet - Go to the season calendar and click on the green meet registration button of the meet you want to enter. Read and follow the instructions carefully and fill out the form completely. Once entered you'll see all of the available events/races listed out. To put your athletes into these events/races click the "Edit Entries" link by the event. On the following page, check the athletes you want in the race (putting in seed times if applicable), and click the save button at the bottom. Do this for each event/race. You will be able to change and update these entries until the entry deadline.

Entry Deadline: Entries will close online at midnight five days prior to the event. All entries and team roster submissions must be done online. NO EXCEPTIONS! Make sure that you have selected all runners from your roster who will be competing on race day by this deadline.

Check-In: All athletes and teams should report to their starting boxes 15 minutes prior to their race is scheduled to begin.

Awards: The first place team (for each gender), decided by overall placing in all three relays, will receive a team trophy. The winning "A" relay teams will receive custom MileStat backpacks. The fastest splits of the meet will also receive custom MileStat backpacks. Winners of the open races as well as the "B" & "C" relay races will receive medals.

Concessions: There will be concession vendors set up near the on-site concession stand.

T-Shirts: Short and long sleeve T-shirts will be for sale during the meet.

$20 - Long Sleeve

$15 - Short Sleeve

Concession: A concession stand run by the Lee-Davis program will be selling drinks (gatorade, water, soda) and food (healthy food for runners and regular concession food for spectators) throughout the meet.

Parking: There is NO fee for parking at Pole Green Park! There will be two nearby lots (one smaller gravel lot closest to the course which will fill up early and another nearby adjacent large grassy field for majority parking). No buses will be permitted to park in the gravel lot and will need to park in the grassy field. Both parking areas are close walking distance to course and there will be parking volunteers directing you where to park and where for buses to unload and pick up.

Use the below as a map guide for parking. There will be meet officials directing buses and spectators to specific areas to park. Please be aware that there will be other sporting events going on at the same time at Pole Green Park on the soccer/football fields and softball fields, so some of these lots will be filled or utilized by those people attending those events as well but the parking lots closest to the XC course will be virtually all those attending the XC meet.

Trainer & EMS on-site: We will have a certified trainer and EMS unit on-site for any injuries or emergencies. Please bring your own athletic tape. We we will have a sweeping gator utility vehicle in every race to pick up any distressed or injured runners on the course.

Keep dogs at home: Dogs have no place at THIS cross country meet. One year someone let loose their greyhound who ended up jumping into one of the races and could have taken out and injured some runners. Keep the hounds at home.

Trash: Please have your athletes police their area and make sure no trash is left when your team is leaving the park. Trash bags are available in your packet and extras will be available at the team packet pick-up table. We are fortunate to have this venue to host this event and we need to make sure we keep this beautiful park clean!
