Meet Information

The 20th Annual Gar-Field Invitational - May 7, 2022

Eight lane all weather, newly resurfaced track. Spectator friendly; view ALL field events from a single location. Multiple jump pits and adjacent high jump apron are ideal for the multi-event athlete. Shot and discus within 100 feet of each other.



Time

8am: Track will open

8:45am: Coaches meeting

9am: Field events will begin

9:30am:*If necessary, a morning section of the 3200 will be run*

10am: 4x800 will begin

11am: Running events, starting with the 100H/110H, will begin on a rolling schedule

Entry Fees & Payment Information

$300.00 per school (both teams) or $175 for a single gender.

Small Schools: $20 per athlete/$30 per relay

Sanctioning

Contact information for Meet Directors

Gar-Field invitational will be sanctioned for public schools from Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, District of Columbia, and North Carolina. Private schools must email Coach Dickerson to be cleared to avoid sanctioning issues.

Entries

Each school is allowed 30 entries per gender (max 6 per event) not including relays. Schools are allowed one team per gender per relay event. Entries must be completed using the milestat.com entry system.

Please adhere to VHSL rules: 3 running events and unlimited field events unless doing the 3200m run, then the athlete is limited to 2 running events. 

Field Events

Field events will begin at 9am

4 attempts - no finals - for Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put and Discus - First legal attempt is measured. Thereafter the following minimum standards must be met. 

*Pole vault will NOT be contested at the meet*

Athletes MUST check in prior to the beginning of the event and check out prior to leaving for their running event.

Scoring & Awards

Scoring: 6 places 10-8-6-4-2-1

Medals for top three individual place finishers and top three relays. We will also award an outstanding male and female performer for both the field and running events. There will be a TEAM TROPHY to the TOP team in the boy's and the girl's division.

Admission

Admission is $7.

Seniors 65+ and kids under 6 are free.

Other Information

Coaches' lunch will be provided

Concessions and t-shirts will be sold throughout the meet
