Meet Information
As the start of cross country is getting underway, test your team's fitness against their peers both locally and nationally. We will be running the 3200-meter races on the track and under the lights.
We will also run heats of 2000m races for those younger/newer athletes who might not be ready to race a 3200m.
Spikes - no spikes longer than 1/4 inch
Entry Fees: $5.00 per athlete entered. $200 max team fee per school or $120 per gender. Payable to the Patriot High School.
Events: High School JV 2K, High School 3200 (varsity and JV). Heats will be slow to fast. Girls will go first.
Entries: Unlimited
This meet is sanctioned by the VHSL.
Individual Awards - Medals to top three in middle school and JV 2K. The top ten fastest times in the 3200-meter races will receive awards.
Team Awards - The 3200-meter races will have team awards. Based on the overall results (merged from all heats), the places will be added up and scored like a cross country meet (scoring the top five runner's places for each team). Only the number six and seven runners can be displaced. The 8th runner plus will be removed for team scoring only.
Time Schedule (approximate)
Track opens at 4:30pm
5:45 pm - coaches meeting at start/ finish line
6:00pm - 2K girls - 21 runners
6:15pm - 2K boys - 19 runners
Additionally, this meet serves as an event qualifying your teams for the HOKA Postal Nationals, where coaches submit official 3200m times for their top 5 runners of each gender and "compete" against schools across the country who also submit times. According to the HOKA Postal Nationals site, coaches who submit official times for their team will receive a free pair of Hoka shoes. Individual awards are provided by The Running Store, and would be customized t-shirts/hats similar to what has been provided for The Running Store City-County Championships in the past.
