After last year’s initial success with a grand total of 1,207 entered athletes and 70 teams entered, the MileStat.com Elite Track Classic looks to continue to grow this spring in its second year of existence in becoming the largest outdoor track & field invitational. As we continue to grow and improve the quality of the meet, we also are searching for sponsors to help us put on a first rate event for coaches, athletes, and parents. In partnering with this event, a potential sponsor would gain great exposure to a large audience between the great number of competitors and spectators expected for this event as well as additional exposure on a larger audience found on meet host MileStat.com’s website, which consistently averages well over one million pages per month. A list of accepted entrants and performance list for the 2010 MileStat.com Elite Track Classic. The event looks to be the largest track meet in the state of Virginia this season with a total of 1,400 athletes entered to compete representing over 70 different schools.
Prior to scratches and reseeding, this is currently how we plan to breakdown the events into sections. Estimated time schedule to come soon though we will be on a rolling time schedule. Please remember that is the responsbility of the athletes and/or coaches to report to the clerks table to check-in at least 1 1/2 hours before their event on Saturday if not earlier (can do this upon arrival at facility) to declare their intent to compete. Also coaches should report scratches as soon as possible including late meet day scratches. If they do not check-in by the final PA announcement call for their event, they will be scratched out of the event and considered as a no show when sheets are taken up for reseeding.
Click here for the new revised time schedule which is also now found on the meet page. We estimate to be done by 8:40 PM on Friday (2 1/2 hour span of events) and 6:25 PM (w/ team trophy presentation at this time) on Saturday. The below time schedule is only a estimated guideline as we are on a rolling schedule and will run ahead of schedule if possible.
Photo by Nicoll Knudsen Day one of the 2010 MileStat.com Elite Track Classic will be held on Friday at Maggie Walker Governor's School with only the relay races of the 4x800, 4x100, and 4x400 meter relay being contested. Last year's meet produced some stellar winning times (9:20 girls 4x800, 7:49 boys 4x800, 47.95 girls 4x100, 43.31 boys 4x100, 4:00.97 girls 4x400, and 3:21.94 boys 4x400) in all three relay races to set a high standard for this year's top seeded relays to beat. The most anticipated race on Friday might be the closing event and final race of the evening in the boys 4x400 meter relay fast section with Atlee, Cosby, and Booker T. Washington all ready to roll times closer to 3:20 flat. Friday Meet Details: Meet starts at 6:00 PM and Friday's events should conclude a little after 8:30 PM. Athletes and coaches need to stay off the infield and away from the finish line area. We will have a designated warm-up area on the half of the infield away from start/finish line (second turn area). Schools should set up their team areas on the grass areas outside of the track on the turns and backstretch. No teams will be allowed to setup in the homestretch stride, which is for spectators only. Check-in area will be down by the 100 meter dash starting area. Packet pick-up will be at the tent/table immediately as you walk in the gate. T-Shirts will be sold on-site. No admission fee on Friday. Parking is somewhat limited at Maggie Walker and late comers might need to park on the streets.
There is no question about it when reviewing the performance list for Saturday's running events at Sports Backers Stadium that the fast section of the boys 400 meter dash jumps out and off the sheet. All eight competitors have ran under 50 seconds to make for depth. There is the rivalry renewal between Taylor Sykes and Marques Atkinson to make for tension and excitement for the crowd. There is the often overlooked and sleepers in the field such as DeShawn Wilson to make for a potential darkhorse pick. Make sure you to stop by the concession stand and get your popcorn before this race! There will be a lot of previews of the Central Region title contenders this weekend at Sports Backers, but a good number of out of area teams and athletes should produced some great performances in the elevated level of new competition.
The smaller venue of Maggie Walker Governor's School provides for a more intimate and close quarters setting for Friday's relay onlys meet format. The high quality track surface found at the Jim Holdren Track coupled with ideal racing weather and spirited and energetic crowd of spectators, coaches, and athletes helped produce many season best times, state qualifiers, and school records across the board. There are so many people I wish I could publicly personally thank for all you did this past weekend to make the second annual MileStat.com Elite Track Classic such a great success. The weather was certainly kind and blessed us without extreme heat and humidity as well as missing the expected rainfall for today, but the people who stepped up and made this past weekend's largest invite of the season in the state run so smoothly made it an easy weekend for myself as meet director. It is days like the past two days which remind me why I feel so fortunate to have stumbled my way into this sport as a high school freshmen who quickly got hooked on the sport so much that it ended up leading to the creation of this site...the people! Between the officials, coaches, athletes, parents, and volunteers who went out of their way to support this weekend's event...THANK YOU! MileStat.com Elite Track Classic - Complete Results

Myah Hicks (pictured right by John Herzog) is a junior at Thomas Edison High School who returned this year as one of the state's top returning half milers as she nearly pulled out the Group AAA state title last spring in the 800. Hicks has gone undefeated this spring in the 800 meter run with a most recent victory and season best performance of 2:14.01 at the MileStat.com Elite Track Classic. In her latest race, Hicks nearly joined the sub five minute club in the 1600 meter run as a runner-up at the Nike Spring Invite with a time of 5:01. Hicks returns back to Sports Backers Stadium this Friday as the top seed in the 800 meter run at the Southern Track Classic, which she hopes to run closer her to season goal of a 2:10.
