MileStat.com Elite Track Gala 2010

Richmond, VA

Meet Information

A couple of important announcements in regards to next weekend's MileStat.com Elite Track Gala.

PERFORMANCE LIST

Below is the meet performance list. I have went through and verified the majority of the entries. If you dispute any corrections I made, please in your email send me a link or fax me a copy of the meet results which show a superior performance for seeding. Saying it occurred in a dual meet and you do not have official results from that meet does not count as providing me with a verified seed performance. Several events being rarely run I had you enter at an equivalent regular event then converted them to a performance for seeding in the event competed in. For example, 1600 meters to 1500 meters, 300 meter hurdles to 400 meter hurdles, etc.

REVISED TIME SCHEDULE

Below is a revised time schedule for the meet. The meet is still expected to finish roughly around the same time if not earlier than past years, but I always like to adjust when some events are larger or smaller than years past so we don't have a lot of dead time. Remember that we will operate on a rolling schedule but we do not plan to go more than 30 minutes ahead of schedule unless we get inclement weather coming in and need to speed up the meet.

All running events will be finals only sections on time going from slow to fast.

FIELD EVENTS

Starting heights are 4'2" for the girls high jump, 5'2" for the boys high jump, 7'6" for the girls pole vault, and 10'3" for the boys pole vault. All marks in the other field events will be measured (previously stated minimum marks after first legal attempt). Top 9 will go onto the finals with another 3 attempts. Certifications for the shot and discus will occur at approximately 2 PM at the track shed beyond the finish line area. There will be no weigh-ins for the vaulters.

LATE FEES

Teams or individuals who still owe entry fees (your amount owed is $0 ), you will need to pay your entry fee by Friday or will be charged a late fee if paying on meet day. The late fee charge will be $10 for a team and will be $5 for an individual. For example, a team with 10 kids and a total entry fee of $150 will have to pay a total of $160 if they wait till meet day on Saturday to get their entry fee in. An unattached individual not competing or entered with a team paying late on meet day will have to pay a total of $20 with their $15 entry fee and $5 late fee. I recommend you avoid paying the entry fee and either overnight a check through the mail to arrive by Friday or pay online through paypal.

ATHLETE & COACH CHECK-IN/PASSES

Athletes and coaches will need to check at the pass gate (smaller gate) just behind the 100 meter dash starting area as soon as they arrive at the facility. Athletes and coaches will not be allowed into the facility until they have checked in and received their wrist band passes which must be worn if attempting to re-enter the facility after leaving.

Parents do not count as coaches unless actual coach of a team. I'm taking the list of registered teams in the meet with their coaches contact info and names from the entry system to be used as the pass list. Teams with any assistant coaches present need to email me their names of assistant coaches who will be attending the meet so they can get on the list as well. Again parents who are not actual coaches of a high school team or club will need to go through the main admission gate and pay the $5 admission fee.

RESEEDING & ATHLETE CONFIRMATION

Athletes must report to the clerks table or coaches on their behalf and check their names off as present and competing in their events. Athletes and coaches can also scratch themselves out of certain events (note: you can scratch out of any event in this meet and not be scratched out of other events). Do this as early as you can as we will take those sheets up approximately 1 hour before the event is schedule to start and re-seed the event. With the nature of our post-season event and chances of no shows, we have to do this to make for full races w/o empty lanes.

IMPORTANT: IF YOU DO NOT PUT A CHECK BY YOUR NAME BEFORE THE SHEETS ARE PULLED UP...YOU WILL BE CONSIDERED A NO SHOW AND SCRATCHED FROM THE EVENT WHEN RESEEDING AND UNABLE TO COMPETE IN THAT EVENT.

With that in mind, I would recommend that you plan ahead to give yourself enough time to arrive at the facility at least 2 hours so that you can check yourself in and confirm your intent to compete in the event with the clerks. Please do not confuse checking yourself in at the pass gate when you first come in as checking yourself for your events. You must go to the clerks table (located nearby to the pass gate to the left) and put a check by your name in the performance list sheets for your events.

Athletes will need to report back to the clerking area 30 minutes before their event to get their heat and lane assignments.

USATF SANCTIONED & RULES

This weekend's meet is sanctioned by USATF and will abide by USATF rules. If you are not familar with the USATF rules, any questions you might have will be answered in the following online rules book at the USATF website.

http://www.usatf.org/about/rules/2010/2010rules.pdf

We will have a few exceptions from the USATF rulebook. For example, all field events and tiebreakers in those events will be done in the English measurement system rather than the recommended Metric measurement for USATF meets. The uniform rules are pretty relaxed in USATF compared to the NFHS and your local high school state association as athletes are allowed to wear.

You will also notice in the performance list that we have included the USATF Junior National qualifier time/marks. This year's USATF Junior Nationals will be held in Des Moines, Iowa. We hope our meet can be an opportunity for several athletes to achieve qualifiers for the junior national championships, which is a great competition experience for athletes looking to go to that next level into college. Meet info is below.

Coaches Races

* In the place of the All-Star DMR to be the "fun event", we will be offering the opportunity to coaches to dust off the old singlet and racing shoes and hold an exhibition coaches 100 dash race and 1600 meter race. Coaches can email us beforehand their intent to compete or sign up on race day. Athletes are encouraged to egg their coaches on!

Finally thank you for your attendance and participation in the fifth annual MileStat.com Elite Track Gala. We hope to run a high quality and enjoyable event which will make you want to come back year after year. Contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
