Brentsville's move to the Evergreen District has made the Northwestern District more wide open than ever as today's district championships at Kernstown Battlefield will have at least three schools in both races having realistic shots of walking away as team champions. The Millbrook girls have a great 1-2 punch in sohomore Crystal Nelson (pictured by Ted Plunkett) and senior Tammy Cheung. Another sophomore in Britany Myers of John Handley is back to defend her individual district title from a year ago. A young Skyline boys squad behind top runner and freshmen Thomas Madden will attempt to pull out a mild upset and win their school's first district title, but the John Handley boys and individual favorite Thomas Delaney (16:07 5K season best) will be tough to beat.
