2024 Luke's Legacy "Last Chance" Invitational

You are invited to participate in the 2024 Lukes Legacy Invitational in partnership with Menchville HS and Newport News Public Schools.
Date: Saturday 26 October 2024
Location: The cross-country course at Newport News Park. Access to the cross-country course is via Fort Eustis Boulevard,706-730 Old Stable Road, Newport News, VA 23608.
Park address: 13560 Jefferson Ave., I-64 East Exit 250 B off I-64., I-64 West Exit 250 A Yorktown Exit.
Course: 3 miles on a mostly flat course with various terrains including grass, a gravel road, and a wooded trail.
Schedule of Events:
7:30 a.m: Course opens
8:15 a.m: Coaches Meeting with Meet Director John Perrin
8:45 a.m: Opening presentation
9:00 am - Varsity Boys
9:30 am - Varsity Girls
10:00 am - JV Boys (open to athletes in the 8th -10th grades)
10:30 am - JV Girls (open to athletes in the 8th -10th grades)
Eighth graders are welcome to run the JV race.

Entry Deadlines: Entries are due through Milestat by October 24, 2024, by 11:59 p.m.
Entry Cost: $150 per team if running single gender | $300 for both boys and girls teams | $15.00 per individual entry
Payment: Please submit your payment via mail OR Bring a check to the registration table on race day.

This is a registration fee. NO REFUNDS unless MEET is CANCELLED.
Awards: Medals will be awarded to the top 10 individuals in each race. No team trophies will be awarded.
Restrooms: Restrooms (Portable Toilets) are available on site. There are no dressing rooms available.
Parking for buses: Access the cross-country course and registration area via Fort Eustis Boulevard, 706-730 Old Stable Road, Newport News, VA 23608. Runners must be dropped off near the registration table. Bus drivers will be directed to the appropriate parking area at Greenwood Elementary along Fort Eustis Boulevard.
Parking for spectators: There is parking off Old Stable Road along Fort Eustis Boulevard.
Alternatively, spectators can park in designated parking areas in Newport News Park accessible from the main park entrance at 13560 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News VA 23603.
Team Packets: Team packets will be available for pick-up at the START LINE upon arrival. A hard copy of the course map will be provided in the team packet and online. Please use the trash bag provided with the team packet to collect all trash from your team area.
Concession: Breakfast food and drinks will be available for purchase from our food vendor Something More LLC. Meats and Sweets by Michael and Elizabeth Ware.
We are looking forward to a great day of racing in memory of Luke Gere (2004-2020), a student at Menchville HS and a passionate cross-country runner.
