Entry Limits - The top two teams and the top 15 individuals from each district (Hogoheegee, Black Diamond, and Cumberland) qualify for the Region D Championships. Just to make sure that everyone understands, it is not the top 15 individuals not on the top two teams. It is the top 15 individuals. This means that you must be on one of the top two teams or you must finish in the top 15 if your team doesn't place in the top two. Also, if your team qualifies from the district to the region then only your top seven can run in the region meet
Qualifying for State: The top three teams and the top five individuals not on the top three teams qualify for the 1A State Meet at Va. Tech on November 16th
Entry Procedure: All entries must be entered on milestat. Entries will be due by November 4th at 11:00 p.m. Coaches will also need to fill out a paper State Entry Form as well that will need to be turned into me before you leave. There will be entry forms in your packet. You can also find them on the VHSL website. This is required. I have to send the paper entry forms into the state meet director
Scoring and Uniforms: We will follow the NFHS Rulebook for scoring and uniforms. See the NFHS T&F/CC Rulebook and make sure you are in compliance with the uniform rules
Trainer: A certified athletic trainer will be available on site. Brad Bussey (bbussey@wcs.k12.va.us)
Buses: Buses will no longer drop teams off at the top of the dam. Buses will need to go to Resting Tree Drive which is the road to the left of the main Sugar Hollow entrance. If you are coming from Exit 7, Resting Tree Drive is the road on your left just before you get to the main entrance of the park. If you're coming up number 11 (Lee Highway) from Exit 10, it's the first road past the main entrance to the park.
When you start going up Resting Tree Drive you will cross a small bridge and there will be an opening in the fence on your right. Drop your teams off there and they can walk up the hill to the course and the trees where team camps are set up. Buses can park on the side of the road on Resting Tree Drive or they can go back to the main entrance of the park and go to the parking lot at the soccer fields past the white house which is the offices to the park. When your team leaves they will need to get on their bus at Resting Tree Drive as well. No buses will be allowed to drop off and load teams at the top of the dam anymore as they have done in the past
Team Camps: Teams may set up your camps in the trees. Just be sure that you do not set up on the course because the course goes through the trees. It will be marked off
Spectators: Spectators may either park in the parking lots below the dam on the left as soon as you pull into the main entrance to the park or they may go up Battle Hill Drive and park in the grass parking area near the white house which is the offices to the park.
To get to the grass parking area, go up Battle Hill Drive which is the main entrance to go up to John Battle High School. It is on your right (coming from exit 10) before you get to the main entrance to Sugar Hollow Park. Once on Battle Hill Drive you will take a left on the gravel road right past the baseball field and it will lead you to the grass parking area next to the park offices. You can walk across the dam to get to the starting line
Bathrooms: Are located at the softball/baseball fields near the parking lots at the bottom of the dam
Timing: Tim Johnson of Trojan Timing will be in charge of timing. Results will be posted live on milestat. Just go to the calendar page and click on the meet. There will be a link that you can click on to see results posted live as the meet goes on. Results will be posted at the meet as well
Awards: The top two teams (Boys and Girls) will receive trophies and the top ten individuals in each race (boys and girls) will receive medals
Directions to Sugar Hollow Park: Take I-81 South to Exit 10. Take a right off the exit and go to the light and take a left on Lee Highway. Follow for approximately 3 miles and the entrance to Sugar Hollow Park will be on your right. Buses will need to go one street past the main entrance to Resting Tree Drive on your right to drop off teams. Buses may park on the side of the road of Resting Tree Drive
