Welcome to the 28th CAROLYN LEGARD RELAYS AT WOODSON HIGH SCHOOL

WHEN: Saturday, March 29th, 2025 9:30 a.m.

WHERE: Woodson High School, 9525 Main St., Fairfax, VA 22031 (Whitacre Rd)

WHO: The first 35 teams registered to participate in the meet. Please contact Katarina Zuber at legardrelays@gmail.com for the password.

SANCTIONS: Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia

ENTRY DEADLINE: March 26, 2025 by 11:59pm. Entry on Milestat only.

ENTRY FEE: $300 per school. If boys and girls teams are separate, each team is $150. This is an entry fee, it is expected that the amount be paid regardless of participation. Once registration close, the entry fees are non refundable. Make your checks payable to: Woodson High School and mail to: Woodson HS, c/o Track & Field - Coach Zuber, 9525 Main St., Fairfax, VA 22031

RULES: The current National Federation Track & Field Rule Book and rules established by the Virginia High School League will be followed.

ENTRIES
: One relay team per school in each event. There is a limit of 2 athletes allowed per team in the FR/SO 1600 meter run. Each field event is a two person relay. Please enter athletes names for the field events and enter all possible relay athletes names on Milestat.

CONCESSIONS: There will be concessions and t-shirts on sale throughout the meet.

COACHES: A fully stocked coaches hospitality room (breakfast and lunch) throughout the meet. Coaches hospitality room is located next to the discus cage.

TRACK: You may use 1/4 inch spikes or smaller

ADMISSIONS: Admission is $5 for adults, $5 for students. Children under the age of 10 are admitted free.

PARTICIPATION RULES: 
Each athlete may compete in three running events and any number of field events.

AWARDS: A team trophy will be presented to the boys and girls winners.

SCORING: FIRST PLACE 10 POINTS, SECOND PLACE 8 POINTS, THIRD PLACE 6 POINTS, FOURTH PLACE 5 POINTS, FIFTH PLACE 4 POINTS, SIXTH PLACE 3 POINTS, SEVENTH PLACE 2 POINTS, EIGHTH PLACE 1 POINT

*FR/SO races are all non-scoring events.

FIELD EVENT PROCEDURES: Field event order will be top seeded flight first. Horizontal jumpers and throwers will be given three attempts, no finals. Starting heights will be: GHJ 4'2, BHJ 5'2, GPV 6'6. BPV 8'6. The best performance for each athlete in the relay will be combined to determine the relay score. Must have two athletes per event to score team points. In the case of a tie in the vertical jumps, total number of misses by both athletes combined will be the tiebreaker. In the horizontal jumps/throws, the best 2nd jump/throw by both athletes combined will be the tiebreaker.

SCHEDULE: Girls will run first. The meet will run continuously. If possible, a tentative time schedule will be posted after registration close. Field events will go best seeded flight to lowest seeded flight. Running events will go fast to slow.

Boys and Girls Long Jump followed by Boys and Girls Triple Jump

Girls Shot Put followed by Boys Shot Put

Boys High Jump followed by Girls High Jump 

Girls Pole Vault followed by Boys Pole Vault. Boys will have a 30-45 minute warm-up as needed after the conclusion of the girls pole vault.
