Meet Information

WELCOME TO THE 29TH CAROLYN LEGARD RELAYS AT WOODSON HIGH SCHOOL

Our track underwent a complete renovation and resurfacing in 2024, which included the installation of new long and triple jump pits, as well as two pole vault runways. Our new pole vault pit arrived in February 2026, ensuring everything is prepared for the 29th Legard Relays.

WHEN: Saturday, March 28th, 2026 9:30 a.m.

WHERE: Woodson High School, 9525 Main St., Fairfax, VA 22031 (Whitacre Rd)

WHO: The first 35 teams registered to participate in the meet. Please contact Katarina Zuber at legardrelays@gmail.com for the password.

SANCTIONS: Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia

ENTRY DEADLINE: Thursday, March 26, 2026 by 8:00pm. Entry on Milestat only.

ENTRY FEE: $325 per school. If boys and girls teams are separate, each team is $165. This is an entry fee, it is expected that the amount be paid regardless of participation. Once registration close, the entry fees are non refundableMake your checks payable to: Woodson High School and mail to: Woodson HS, c/o Track & Field - Coach Zuber, 9525 Main St., Fairfax, VA 22031. Because of delinquent payments in recent years, please provide the entry fee check prior to the competition.

RULES: The current National Federation Track & Field Rule Book and rules established by the Virginia High School League will be followed.

INFIELD: No athletes will be allowed on the infield unless escorted by the Clerk of Course to their event. 



ENTRIES
: One relay team per school in each event. A limit of two athletes per team in the FR/SO 1600 meter run and each field event is a two athlete relay. You can enter just one athlete, but they will not score points as a team. Please enter athletes names for the field events and enter all possible relay athletes names on Milestat.

CONCESSIONS: There will be concessions and t-shirts on sale throughout the meet.

COACHES: A fully stocked coaches hospitality room (breakfast and lunch) throughout the meet. Coaches hospitality room is located next to the discus cage.

TRACK: You may use 1/4 inch spikes or smaller

ADMISSIONS: Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for 65+

WARM-UP: Warm-up is outside the track on the field behind the visitor bleachers.

CHECK-IN: Check-in for running events is behind the visitor bleachers, close to 300mH start. Field event athletes check-in directly with the field event official.

PARTICIPATION RULES: 
Each athlete may compete in three running events and any number of field events.

AWARDS: A team trophy will be presented to boys and girls highest team scorer.

SCORING: FIRST PLACE 10 POINTS, SECOND PLACE 8 POINTS, THIRD PLACE 6 POINTS, FOURTH PLACE 5 POINTS, FIFTH PLACE 4 POINTS, SIXTH PLACE 3 POINTS, SEVENTH PLACE 2 POINTS, EIGHTH PLACE 1 POINT

*FR/SO races are all non-scoring events.

FIELD EVENT PROCEDURES: Field event order will be top seeded flight first. Horizontal jumpers and throwers will be given three attempts, no finals. Starting heights will be: GHJ 4'3, BHJ 5'4, GPV 6'6. BPV 8'6. The best performance for each athlete in the relay will be combined to determine the relay score. Must have two athletes per event to score team points. In the case of a tie in the vertical jumps, total number of misses by both athletes combined will be the tiebreaker. In the horizontal jumps/throws, the best 2nd jump/throw by both athletes combined will be the tiebreaker.

SCHEDULE: Girls will run first. The meet will run continuously. If possible, a tentative time schedule will be posted after registration close. Field events will go best seeded flight to lowest seeded flight. Running events will go fast to slow.

Girls Pole Vault followed by Boys. Boys will have a 30-45 minute warm-up as needed after the conclusion of the girls pole vault.
