2026 Liberty District  

OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP 

DATES: May 13th 5:30 p.m./May 15th at 5:30 p.m.

SCRATCH Meeting: 

DISTRICT: Herndon, Langley, McLean, W-L, Yorktown, Wakefield, Marshall 

PRE-SEASON MEETING: VHSL Coaches Rule Clinic online at www.vhsl.org coaches  meeting TBD. 

STANDARDS: Attached to Bottom 

ATHLETE COMPETITION LIMIT: Athletes can only have competed in 10 meets  throughout the regular season. 

DISTRICT ENTRIES: All schools can enter 3 individuals in each event. If any school wants to  enter more than 3 athletes in any individual event, all athletes entered must have a qualifying  district mark or time on Mile Stat and certified by a meet director. All teams can enter 1 relay  team into the District Championship Meet for each relay event.  

REGIONAL ADVANCEMENT ENTRIES: Entries will come from those who placed in the  top 6 individually, or top 3 in the relay events in their District Championship meet. Or they can  be entered into the meet with a Regional Qualifying mark from a qualifying meet during the  season.  

STATE ADVANCEMENT ENTRIES FROM REGIONAL MEET: THE TOP 4  INDIVIDUALS AND THE TOP 4 RELAYS IN EACH EVENT WILL ADVANCE TO THE  STATE MEET. ****NOTE THAT IN THE EVENT OF A TIE FOR 4TH PLACE IN THE HIGH  JUMP OR THE POLE VAULT, THERE WILL NEED TO BE A JUMP OFF TO DETERMINE  WHO MOVES ON.... ONLY 4 FROM EACH REGION MAY BE ADVANCED TO THE  STATE MEET. **** Or Individuals with a State Qualifying mark achieved throughout the  regular season. 

ADMISSION: $7 Adults $5 Students 

EQUIPMENT: Each school will furnish its own batons, shot, discus, and vaulting poles.  Starting blocks will be provided by South Lakes High school. 

RULES: 2025 Edition National Federation Rule Book and the 2024-25 edition of the VHSL  Handbook. 

NOTE: The one-minute rule will apply in all field events. 

SCORING: 10-8-6-4-2-1 

TIMING: Meet with be covered by FAT Timing and all meet entries will be entered using  MileStat.com 

CALL FOR EVENTS: First call-15 minutes prior to the scheduled time of event Second call--10 minutes prior. Third call--5 minutes prior. Athletes should report at First Call. In events run  by heats, all starters must report to the clerk at the check-in area before the first heat is run.  Failure to report at the time will result in a scratch.  

INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPATION: 

In one meet, a contestant may compete in any number of fields events but shall be limited to  participation in only three running events, except that a contestant who competes in the 3200-meter run may compete in no more than one other running event. In any meet held over 2 days, a  contestant competing in the 3200-meter run may compete in 2 additional running events if only  one of the two additional races is contested on the same day as the 3200-meter run. 

UNIFORMS: 

Please read and know Uniform rules related to Section 3 Art. 1-4 Team members shall wear the  school uniform. A competitor must be in the proper track uniform and wearing his/her contestant  number before he will be permitted to compete. Numbers, when worn shall be attached to the  front of the shirt for all events, including the 1600- and 3200-meter runs. See (Article 2) for  special restrictions regarding relay races. 

CONTROL OF THE FIELD: 

Each coach is asked to keep his/her squad in the stands, off the track, and out of the infield,  except when an individual is competing or warming up. Violation could result in  disqualification. 

AWARDS: 1st through 3rd place for individuals and relays.
