2026 VHSL Region 6A Championships

Admission: Tickets will be sold on both days.

General Admission: $10 (Children under 5 free)
Only student-athletes in a school issued uniform will be admitted into the meet at no charge.
Entry Requirements: Schools may enter up to (3) athletes per individual event (and one relay team) without meeting the region qualifying standard. *If a school enters (4) or more athletes in an individual event, all of those athletes must have met the region qualifying standard in a meet of ten (10) or more teams (5) or more teams if fully automated timing is being used). You may enter an athlete with a (NT) no time or (NM) no mark in an individual event, if you have (3) or less entries in the event. If you have more than (3) entries you cannot enter the athlete.
*Note: If a coach/school has (4) or more entries in an event that coach/school needs to make sure all of their times/ marks meet regional standards. All times/ marks will be verified! If a coach enters more than 3 athletes and any of those athletes do not meet regional standards they will be scratched from the event- (I will not ask which athletes you had intended on competing I will scratch the athletes who did not meet the standard. If a coach enters an athlete and their time/mark can not be verified they will be entered as (NT) no time or (NM) no mark.
Declaration Rule will be in effect: All Individuals declared for participation at the deadline will have those events count towards their participation limit whether they compete in them or not. If an athlete is declared in more than the allowable number, they will be removed from the last event declared in accordance with the meet schedule.
ENTRY DEADLINE (FOR REGION MEET): TUESDAY, MAY 26, 2026 @ 11:59PM
Rules: The current edition of the VHSL Handbook and the National Federation Track and Field Rule Book will be used.
A contestant may compete in any number of field events, but shall be limited to participating in only three (3) running events. A contestant competing in the 3200 meter run may participate in two (2) other running events as long as only one of the two is contested on the same day as the 3200 meter run.
Starting Blocks: Teams can bring their own starting blocks. We will have starting blocks available.
Uniforms: Approved school issued track uniforms must be worn and must be visible.
Awards: Team trophies will be awarded at the end of the meet. Individual medals will be given to the coaches at the end of the meet. Medals are awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers.
Scoring: Team points are earned by individuals who finish in the top eight places in each event. The girls and boys teams earning the highest number of points will be declared Region Tournament Champion.

Sportsmanship: The ideals of sportsmanship apply equally to all involved with the meet. Individuals, regardless of their role in activities, are expected to be aware of their influence on the behavior of others and model good sportsmanship.
Field Event Help: Each school is assigned a field event to provide help for the officials. Please have (3) student-athletes available to volunteer. Field Events assignments will be sent out to the coaches prior to the meet.
Group 6 State Meet: The VHSL Class 5/6 State Championship meet will be held June 5-6 at Todd Stadium (Newport News).
ENTRY DEADLINE: (FOR STATE MEET ): SUNDAY May 31 @ NOON.
Top (4) finishers in each event plus anyone who meets the state qualifying standard in the regional meet, or in a sanctioned meet involving (10) or more teams (5) or more teams if fully automated timing used).
