Freshman of The Year
Bethel
If you want to talk about filling the Lyles/Holloway void you start your list and conversation with this guy. This season he put on a show in the 5A 500 when he crossed the line in 1:05.72 to set a new freshman national record in the event. He also shortly doubled back to split sub 50 in the 4x400 to bring the boys team their first indoor state team title.
Sophomore of The Year
George C. Marshall
Heather had another great year this year. She followed up her strong season with a state title in a very fast 1600 this year. She also impressively ran a pr when it mattered most in the state championship final!
Junior of The Year
Lake Braddock Secondary
One of the most historic seasons on record. That is really the only way to describe her season this year. She never even got a chance to show us her speed in the deuce because of weather but regardless she broke the state record for Mile/1600 and even set a new Millrose Mile record (4:41). She would go on to run 4:39 and be national runner-up in the mile and brought her team back from way down to a very close second in the DMR at nationals. Second to a national record!
Senior of The Year
T.C. Williams
This year was truly a huge year for the sprinters. This competition was so stacked you have a national champion (60m) not winning the sprinter of the year award. Josephus had a huge season helping set the 4x200 state record and by winning the hotly contested 6A 55m dash final. He finished his season with a VA #2 all-time 6.19 (55m) performance en route to his 60m national title.
