Weekend Preview: National Leaders & State Record Holders Opening Up

CNU Winter Frolic Preview

Meet Page - Performance List - Facility Records

#1 Event to watch: Girls' 500m Dash

Why: Lauryn Ghee shocked the nation by breaking a Francena state record last year and this year could be even faster. This is a season opener for Ghee but she will likely want to put a statement time down to open the season.

#2 Event to watch: Boys' 500m Dash

Why: Edward Richardson III set a freshman national record last year at states and it is going to be a big theme of this season seeing how fast he can go. If he built up his strength and speed a little bit then you can expect a US #1 here that is going to stand for a long time.

#3 Event to watch: Girls' Long Jump

Why: Defending state champion and national triple jump leader, Titiana Marsh, is going to be in action this weekend. She will definitely be looking for a solid opening mark but just know she usually saves the big performances for January and February so whatever you see this weekend you can safely add a foot to that performance.

#4 Event to watch: Boys' 1000m Run

Why: This race is stacked to the brim with talent and depth. It is going to be a barn-burner and close.

#5 Event to watch: Boys' 3200m Run

Why: Just a few weeks removed from XC means that a lot of the elite guys, who just so happen to be entered in this race, are still in peak conditions and have likely not tapered much at all heading into this weekend's competition. Expect a very fast race from the gun and some quick times at the end as well.
