The Midlothian girls (pictured above by Linda D'Amato) tied history last year when they became only the second team ever in the history of Group AAA girls cross country to win four straight VHSL state titles as they matched the feat of the Lake Braddock girls from 1985 to 1988. The Lady Trojans have plenty of firepower and talent this year to extend the streak of titles which began with the 2005 team and become the only Group AAA school to win 5 straight. In Group AA, Blacksburg won 5 straight from 1982 to 1986 and Brentsville won an incredible 7 straight titles from 1995 to 2001 in Group A.
With the exception of returning Northwest Region champions Osbourn Park with their top seven back from 2008, the top 10 pre-season ranked teams in Group AAA is dominated by two regions in the Central and Northern, which also means some good teams could be left home after the state qualifier meets from both regions.
