Good job over the weekend in less than ideal conditions at Milestat. Remember you cannot leave with anyone else but your parents. We are resposible for you until your parents come and pick you up. You always need to check out with us before you leave a Track Meet.

Good job at the Meet yesterday. Once again as we try and establish a team concept when it comes to Track and Field, points matter and athletes should always try and do their best.

The Bus leaves tomorrow at 8:30 A.M. The 4 X 800 will run first followed by the prelims in the 55 hurdles and the sprints. Hopefully everyone will make it on to States. Coach Mac

Another of our track athletes in the news: York receiver Logan Bauder commits to D-II Alderson-Broaddus Logan Bauder, who led York High's Bay Rivers District football team in receiving this past season, has committed to play in college at Alderson-Broaddus College in West Virginia. Alderson-Broaddus, a Division II school which is beginning football in the fall, had already recruited Poquoson defensive back Casey Allen. Bauder, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound senior, led the Falcons with 32 receptions, good for 518 yards and five touchdowns. He said that Alderson-Broaddus will give him some financial aid to attend the school. "I visited this weekend and like the coaching staff," Bauder said. "I liked that it's a Division II school that going to play in a new stadium, and that I've got a chance to start right away."

One of our throwers in the news this morning: York all-state lineman Hayden Crockett commits to Alderson-Broaddus Hayden Crockett, a two-way starting lineman on York High's Bay Rivers District football champions, said Friday night that he has committed to play for Division II Alderson-Broaddus of West Virginia. Crockett said that he will receive a full athletic scholarship for A-B, which will begin football in the fall. Crockett joins York wide receiver Logan Bauder and Poquoson defensive back Casey Allen as A-B recruits. Crockett, a 6-foot-4, 305-pound senior, was a two-way first team All-Bay Rivers District and All-Region I selection. He was also named second team All-State Group AA by Virginia Preps. http://weblogs.dailypress.com/sports/highschool/bayriversblog/2012/01/york_allstate_lineman_hayden_c.html

This has been a dissapointing year on some levels but a rewarding year in that the students that have been working are improving. If you fail to show up and fail to tell any of the coaches you cannot expect to compete.

Once again another Track Meet at Hampton University for the Peninsula Relays. A better turn out then last week, but still no 4X400, 200, Shot Putters left? No 300 hurdles. We should be better then that.

Hey Coaches, You will not believe what happened a while ago. So first off I miss my track family, and I wish I could have been there for you all, but I work now and shool is crazy. Anyways I ran the Shamrock 5 mile and well after the race Im standing there waiting for my running people and this guy approaches me. sees im wearing a york high XC shirt. and he introduces himself as Peter Zinc. haha well i dont know if you remember but that was the name that i went back into the year books and just found to see if coach jackson would remember. and i meet him. how odd and what are the chances of that? that i choose a random name and meet him? hah well the best of luck to all of you and i hope this season is a good one. -Castro york 09 300m IH 110m HH 55 HH

"Practice makes perfect", "You are what you are in practice", "All we can do is give you the opportunity to improve". "If you don't do your homework on the track it will show at the Track Meet" "If you are early you are on time, if you are on time you are late, and if you are late you are left" "Preparation and perspiration lead to satisfaction and salutations" "Failing to prepare is preparing to fail" Coach Jacksonisms believe them, live them, walk the walk don't talk the talk.
