An extended lightning delay starting at 6:20 PM forced the remaining events (some field events and running events starting with the girls 400 and beyond) to be reschedule to Wednesday, May 8th at a new location at Norfolk Academy. MileStat.com was on-site with coverage for Tuesday's portion of the meet at CNU, but can't confirm right now that we will be on-site for the day two rescheduled portion of the meet on Wednesday at Norfolk Academy.
Meet Highlights:
- The overall MVP of girls went to Norfolk Academy's Tyler Bannister who scored 48 points and had wins in the shot, discus, high jump and on the 4x100m relay.
- The field event MVP went to Norfolk Academy's Marika Livingston, who won the long jump and the triple jump.
- Norfolk Academy's Ellie Randolph was the running events MVP with wins in 100m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, and the 4x100m relay.
- Marika Livingston of Norfolk Academy broke the 5 year old 400 meter meet record with a time of 58.24. The previous record was Heather Clagett (NA) in 1:00.29 from 2008.
- Grace Webb of Norfolk Academy broke the 4 year old 800 meter meet record with a time of 2:21.83. The previous record was Anna Blackwood (NA) in 2:24.12 in 2009.
- Martine Hunnicutt of Peninsula Catholic broke a 9 year old 3200 meter meet record with a time of 11:46.02. The previous record was Suzanne Ginnow (Cape Henry Collegiate) from 2004.
- The overall MVP for boys was Cal Neikirk of Norfolk Academy, who scored 28 points and won the high jump and the 110 hurdles.
- Patrick Robertson of Norfolk Academy was the field events MVP and won the shot and the discus.
- Grant Wiggins of Norfolk Academy was the running events MVP with wins in the 1600 and 800 meter races.
- Bishop Sullivan and Norfolk Academy both came well under a 28 year old meet record in the in the final event of the day in the 4x400 meter relay, Bishop Sullivan’s team of Cameron Forren, James Fune, Michael Koceja, and Brice Tucker pulled ahead for the win on the final straightaway with a new meet record of 3:31.17. The old meet record was set in 1985 by Norfolk Catholic (Smith, Brown, Worley, Pascua).
