When we visited the Washington-Lee team back in August as part of our pre-season practice tour, we missed their top runner Haileye Demsie, who was in summer school getting his grades up. Based on his season debut at the Oatlands Invitational this past weekend, Demsie apparently was not only working hard in the classroom, but on the roads this summer. A 9:34 performer in the 3200 last spring, Demsie posted a new 5K personal best of 15:55 on the hilly Oatlands Plantantion 5K course in Leesburg to finish 7th in the loaded varsity A race and elevate himself all the way to a VA #4 position in our latest Cream of the Crop Boys Individual XC Rankings.
