Updated Cream of the Crop top 25 cross country individual rankings as of October 8th. Louis Colson suffered his first defeat of the season but against national caliber out-of-state competition as only 1.5 seconds separated him from first place at Great American with an "off day" described by Colson, yet running a new 5K personal best time of 15:00.9 in a fourth place showing. The Thomas Edison senior continues to impress though as his times have matched up well to last year's times by Foot Locker Nationals runner-up Sean McGorty on the same courses and meets. McGorty ran 14:43 in a much less humid and much more cooler Great American race last year, so Colson's recent 15:00 performance at WakeMed is probably closer to the 2012 Great American performance by McGorty than simply looking at the 17 second time difference.
