College Weekend Meet Report: Week 5

George Washington Invitational Report

MANASSAS, VA -- The William & Mary men, running without the services of sophomore Matt Keally, still showed their might as they were able to defeat Georgetown University in a close team battle (27-29 pts). The Tribe were led by All-American Ed Moran, who covered the tough Bull Run Regional Park 8K course in a time of 25:53.6 to take the individual win. Junior Matt Maline (3rd, 26:04.8), freshmen Adam Tenerowicz (6th, 26:16.9), junior Jeff Hedley (8th, 26:27.4), sophomore Jason Schoener (9th, 26:28.3), and senior Adam Otstott (12th, 26:36.2) all finished well in the top 15 for William & Mary. 2002 Marion H.S. graduate Fleet Hower, finished a solid 4th overall for Georgetown University (26:06.2). Mary Washington junior Matt Kirk continues what has been a breakthrough season as he was the top finisher for the sixth place finishing Eagles with a 35th place finish (27:20.8). American University sophomore Keira Carlstrom, 2002 graduate of Oakton H.S. finished third overall and was the top collegiate finisher in the race with her time of 18:35.2 in the women's 5K race. Erin Connelly continues her gradual comeback from injury for Mary Washington as she finished 41st (20:52.4) as the Lady Eagles took 7th place team honors.
