The 24th Annual Blue Demon Invite got underway beneath short-lived cloud and fog cover in Christiansburg. Athletes from 14 schools came to capture the 1st place trophies in Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School Races.

The competitors in the community and middle school events enjoyed damp, grassy trails and low visibility. As temperatures quickly rose following the start for the girls’ varsity race the verdant paths dried out and traction conditions improved. These improved conditions not only made conditions more race-ready but also enabled these athletes to produce some impressive season-opening performances.
